Our story
"Your help matters, no matter how big or small."
Forty nine years ago, I, Camlien Thi Tran, arrived in Northampton Massachusetts USA as a young Vietnamese refugee-escapee from communist Vietnam. I started my new life with absolutely nothing other than a positive attitude, a hard work ethic and a determination to get ahead thru education. In 1999, while working in California, I met my husband Robert Henry Gienger. By profession, he is a Mechanical Engineer but by passion he is a contractor and pilot. We have been married over 24 years and our “children” are all animals we have rescued. After a life time of accomplishments, we now have set out and are ready to help those who are less fortunate. To that end, The Tran Gienger Family Charity Foundation was established on February 15th. 2022.
Currently, our main short term focus is offering financial assistance in building a retirement home for a group of elderly Catholic Nuns of the Dominican Sisters of Thai Binh Vietnam. Long term, our foundation offers academic financial aid and housing support to impoverished Vietnamese children attending school in the USA and abroad. We provide full or partial school tuition and housing support where and when the situation warrants it.
Besides the current projects we also will entertain many new projects in the future as they present themselves.
